I used a lot of level balancing on photoshop to bring out the duller colors, everything is really bright now which helped me to add the cutout effect in some layers to make them look more cartoon-like. The band on the foreground emits a somewhat powerful effect, that being because I took the picture at a very low angle. That is supposed to represent the status of the bend, as if the band was on top of something, which shows that the band has risen to a much better position.
The outer glow around each band member represents the magazine's three main colors, Green, Red and Blue. The logo is -again- very representative of the fun aspect of this magazine, with the multiple colors and the dripping paint like logo. The positioning and font in the 'CANTEEN' letters is a mixture between serif and non-serif, it backs up the fun aspect even more. On the dripping paint logo you have the magazine's 3 main colors returning as the magazine's main motif.
I laid out the cover-lines in a very unorganized way to make the magazine look more attractive, if it was too neat it's end up against the magazine's secondary motif of a 'fun' look. I have the black splatter behind every headline to make them more visible, and to match the magazine's logo.
Overall I think that I did a great job with the Main Cover, it looks fun and attractive, and I think it'd grab enough attention, unlike most magazines on the shelf which just look cluttered and confusing. I hope that the way I laid out the images expresses the freedom behind the simple photoshopping and student-based content.
